A civil suit has been filed by the family of a 72-year-old woman killed by a sheriff’s deputy in a crash at North Chester Avenue and China Grade Loop in Oildale.

Nancy Garrett’s family is asking the Kern County Sheriff’s Office for monetary damages after a California Highway Patrol investigation revealed Garrett did nothing wrong when she was struck by Nicholas Clerico at 85 mph last September.

Clerico was en route to a bar fight.
