A part of eastbound Highway 58 was closed for several hours when a tractor-trailer carrying 159 cows caught fire.

Kern County Fire Captain Nate Perkins says a fuel leak started the fire around 10:45 Friday morning near Bena Road, but crews were able to keep it to the front tractor. None of the livestock were hurt.

Environmental Health crews have been cleaning a 30 gallon diesel spill.
