SIX DEAD IN SOUTHEAST BAKERSFIELD SHOOTING SPREE

Six people, including the suspect, are dead in five separate shootings in southeast Bakersfield.

Sheriff Donny Youngblood says the suspect shot his wife and another man at T&T Trucking on Manwell Blvd. off Weedpatch Hwy before 5:30pm Wednesday, then chased and shot a third man in front of Bear Mountain Sports before heading to a house on Breckenridge Road where he killed two more people.

The suspect then carjacked a woman and her child, who managed to escape unharmed.

About 15 minutes later a deputy confronted the suspect, who made his way to a parking lot off Edison Hwy where he turned the handgun on himself.

Deputies believe the shootings are related, but have not said what the motive is. They are interviewing 30 witnesses and reviewing body camera footage to piece together the events.

Kern County Fire also responded to Wednesday’s incident.
