A 19-year-old man has been convicted of first-degree murder for shooting another man in an orange orchard east of Bakersfield and leaving the body in a sump.

Ivan Ruiz was 17-years-old when he killed 18-year-old Michael Ballesteros off Breckenridge Road and Commanche Drive over the $100 he owed the victim. Ruiz faces life in prison without parole at his sentencing.
