Bakersfield Police crime units have been digging up a field on Houghton Road just off Highway 99, but they haven’t said what they’re looking for.

Heavy duty equipment started excavating around 7:00 Thursday morning after officers got a tip on a current investigation. Police will continue the operation on Friday.
