HEALTHCARE TOUR BUS

The Covered California Healthcare bus rolled onto Mill Creek Bridge in Central Park Thursday to promote open-enrollment in Bakersfield. Covered California Executive Director, Peter Lee says almost 30,000 people living in Bakersfield are eligible for either Covered California or Medical. Lee warns that you can walk out of a hospital owing $50,000 and wants those who think they can’t afford coverage to know that 9 out of 10 people who sign up for Covered California can receive financial help in exchange for very good plans. He says that “Life can change in an instant” and encourages people to sign up before the January 15th deadline. In 2017, over 67,000 people were uninsured in Bakersfield but the recent election results mean that people with preexisting conditions will be covered under Obamacare. Lee says that f you wait until the last minute to pick a provider, your coverage will begin February 2019 but if you sign up by December 15th, you will not go one day in 2019 without being covered.
