KCSO: Deputy US Marshal’s Bullet Killed Fleeing Woman

New details into the officer involved shooting that happened at a Bakersfield motel last week, and ended in a car crash. Late today, the Kern Sheriff said the bullet that killed 21-year-old Stephanie Quiroz came from a US Marshal’s gun. It was Tuesday of last week, when authorities located wanted parolee Gavino Castro, who then fled from a Motel 6 off East Brundage with Quiroz and Gavino’s brother Rolando in a vehicle. As officers tried to stop the car Rolando drove it toward a marshal, who then fired upon the car. It got away, but crashed about two miles from the scene. Quiroz was found dead in the passenger seat.
