KERN CO TOWN MAKES FIRE DANGER LIST

An analysis by the SACRAMENTO BEE/McClatchy news service finds Wofford Heights is among several communities that exist almost entirely within “very high fire hazard severity zones,” like the Camp Fire in Paradise. More than 350-thousand Californians live in towns and cities that could be overwhelmed by fast-moving flames, and finds the area of Santa Rosa that was destroyed by the Tubbs Fire was not built for fire concerns at all, because it was not in a wooded area and was across a freeway. Experts say the study is a starting point for prioritizing how to spend money on fire-safety programs.
