A 21-year-old Tehachapi man is dead after being shot by a police officer Tuesday nightAuthorities say police gave chase around 9:40pm after it was suspected that Juan Antonio Sillas was in possession of a firearm. The chase came to a abrupt end after Sillas appeared to ram his getaway vehicle into a police cruiser at Red Apple Ave and Westwood Blvd. An officer opened fire and killed Sillas at the scene. A semi-automatic pistol was discovered nearby. The officer was not injured. The Kern County DA is investigating.
