Suzanne Grant joined KUZZ as a reporter in 2007 and took over two years later as News Director. She began her radio career at age 19 and was working professionally in both radio and TV before graduating from Sonoma State University with a BA in Marketing Management and a minor in media and studio art.
Some of the jobs that led the way to Bakersfield include Anchor for Capitol Public Radio (NPR) and KFBK AM (News Talk) in Sacramento, as well as on air host at KVIE TV (PBS) and assignment editor at KOVR TV (CBS). Suzanne has also worked as a broadcaster in Santa Rosa, Scottsdale, Elko and San Francisco, and has a long list of gigs as a radio and nightclub DJ.
The thing that draws Suzanne to radio is the “immediacy” of the medium, because it doesn’t take layers of people and equipment to get a good story or important update out to the listeners, and “a good radio producer can paint a picture as well as any camera”.
Suzanne has eight Mark Twain Awards from the Associated Press for her news anchoring and production skills.
