NTSB Arrives in Lebec After Fatal Plane Crash

Representatives with the National Transportation Safety Board are in Lebec trying to piece together wreckage of a crash that killed the pilot of a Pitts biplane in the mountains of Tejon Ranch.

NTSB spokesman Steve Holloway said investigators are inspecting individual components and the crash site itself.

“At this point, it’s more so just fact-gathering,” he said. “The NTSB will not determine the cause at this early stage of the investigation.”

Holloway said a preliminary report will be published late next week after the wreckage is taken to a federal hangar in Arizona. The wreckage could arrive in Arizona by as early as Friday.

He’s not sure when the cause of the crash will be determined.
