The California Highway Patrol is urging people to give their Bakersfield office a call if they know anything about the illegal street race on Edison Highway where a man died after being struck at 80 mph.

They say they’re still investigating the May 31 incident.

After being taken to Kern Medical Center with major injuries, 24-year-old John Velazquez was arrested for hitting 22-year-old Patrick Mendez.
