MAN GETS DEATH PENALTY FOR MURDER AND RAPES

A man who was convicted of murdering a Bakersfield prostitute and sexually assaulting four other women has been sentenced to death.

DNA evidence from the rapes was used to link 40-year-old Michael Brown to the unsolved stabbing of Ruby Jackson-Meriweather in 2000. Deputy District Attorney Felicia Nagle speaking after today’s sentencing thinks justice is served.

Brown is being taken to San Quentin but an automatic appeal will be filed will be filed on his behalf. He also faces restitution fees to the victims and their families over $6,000.
