A driver who said he fell asleep at the wheel is blamed for a crash that left a gaping hole in the side on an apartment at Lily and Olympia drives in southwest Bakersfield.

Neighbors reported hearing what sounded like an explosion around 4:30 Sunday morning. No one was hurt and police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
