LAMONT PUD DOESN’T ADD UP

The Lamont Public Utilities District has been given a report card and they failed. The State Controller has issued a report showing the Lamont Public Utilities District has allowed $224 thousand to go missing. Jennifer Hanson of the Controller’s office says the money could have been spent on legitimate agency business, but they have no way of knowing. The Lamont PUD was examined in 79 accounting practices and failed 65 of them, or 82 percent, but the most troubling to the Controller was the poor cash handling by its employees. Hanson says the district has already begun to implement recommended changes to clean up their bookkeeping.
