COUNTY LOOKING AT VOLUNTEERS

Supervisors hope to restore some of the services that are being lost to budget cuts by using volunteers. Every department from law enforcement to libraries will be affected, and County Administrative Officer John Nilon says they could tap into the “golden effort and energy” of local residents.

Nilon made the remarks outside Thursday’s Global Leadership Summit in Bakersfield. The county has lost $70-million in two years from falling oil prices.
