A man twice convicted of drunk driving has been arraigned for a suspected DUI crash.The accident killed a former mayor of Wasco. 30-year-old Lorezno Alonzo entered a not guilty plea Friday and had bail set at $1.25 million dollars for the August 2nd crash on 7th Standard Road. Court records show Alonzo admitted to investigators that he drank four beers before the mid-morning incident. 81-year-old Melvin McLaughlin, a former mayor and retired Kern County firefighter, died in the wreck.
