COUNTY BUDGET FINALIZED

Kern County Supervisors have given final approval to a budget that cuts $545 million and eliminates over 17 hundred jobs. The $2.5 Billion budget passed Tuesday uses a mix of revenue sources including community block grants and reserves to minimize public safety budget cuts, but they are being cut. County Fire is not having to face job losses although they still must figure out a way to trim $12 million from this fiscal year’s spending. Sheriff Donny Youngblood, while not happy about the cuts, was pleased efforts were made to minimize the damage.
