The Police Chief for the Kern High School District has filed a $2.2-million lawsuit, claiming he was put on administrative leave for reporting the illegal use of the law enforcement database. Attorney Michael Dolan says Chief Joe Lopeteguy informed the Sheriff’s office that administrators were accessing private information on employees and students. The DA investigated but did not press charges.
The Kern High School District is doing it’s own investigation but will not comment on pending litigation.
