Kern County firefighters made quick work of putting out a two-acre grass fire near Keene. The one-alarm fire broke out around 12:30 Wednesday afternoon on the east side of State Route 223 near Highway 58, and Captain Tyler Townsend says they were concerned that it would spread to areas burned by the Deer Fire.

An air tanker was diverted from another fire to help out, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
