Bakersfield Commons has been given a fresh planning approval six years later.The giant development in northwest Bakersfield at Coffee and Brimhall Roads was first approved in 2010 but didn’t happen. Developer Trammell Crow is working with the local land owner on a residential, retail, entertainment, office, light industrial and hospital plan that drew and enthusiastic approval by planning commissioners. There was little opposition as even neighbors like the project’s plans. Bakersfield Commons still needs city council approval before it would begin construction in phases.
