Former Bakersfield Congressman Bill Thomas is back in public service.Thomas has been appointed to fill a vacant seat on the Kern Community College District Board of Trustees. He replaces Rick Wright who recently moved to Montana and Thomas says he won’t run for the seat when the term expires in two years. The Board vote was 4-2 with dissenters supporting former Trustee John Rogers who said he would run for re-election if appointed. Thomas promised never to run for elected office again when he retired from Congress in 2007.
