Bakersfield is now home to a piece of history as a 22 foot beam from the World Trade Center was dedicated in a memorial to 9-11. Sunday morning’s dedication on Buena Vista Road was between a fire and police station, and Pastor Jeb Galling of New York led the invocation.
Bakersfield is one of the few cities selected to receive a piece of the World Trade Center because of the plans for a public memorial that honors all first responders.
The dedication drew young people who were small children in 2001, who felt it was important for their generation to remember what happened that day.
