CITY PAYS DOC $4 MILLION

The City of Bakersfield is reluctantly paying $4 million to a doctor who suffered brain damage following a car crash. Dr. Mohammed Harb suffered a stroke in 2007 and sued, claiming a police officer sent an ambulance away believing he was drunk. The settlement is being made at the request of the city’s insurance company. The city wanted to pursue the case after a judge ruled in 2012 that the plaintiff could not blame the city, police department and Hall Ambulance as all liable.
