A grass fire has burned about two acres just south of the National Cemetery on Highway 223, east of Arvin. The fire began around 2:30 Monday and a helicopter responding to another wildfire at the same time was diverted to drop water. Kern County Fire says there was no damage and the quick air attack kept the fire from spreading. It’s uncertain what started the fire.
