A Shafter police officer is on paid leave while the department investigates a shooting Wednesday morning at the Fastrip on East Lerdo Hwy.

They got a call around 1:45 from the gas station for a naked man who was bathing at the washer fluid station. Officers found him inside an SUV with a large knife but had to jump out of the way when he accelerated towards them and then jumped out. He was shot in the hand and had a cut to his leg.
