The Kern County Museum has unveiled a new logo to less than enthusiastic response. The rework is part of re-branding the non-profit on Chester Avenue in Bakersfield. New Executive Director Zoot Velasco says the logo features a close up of the clock tower but he says it’s the name of the museum that needed updating the most. Velasco says people didn’t know which museum he worked for when he said Kern County Museum but they immediately knew when he would say Pioneer Village. He also believes focusing on the Pioneer Village name should help in fundraising because people believe the Kern County Museum is supported by local government. He admits the logo lacks a “wow” factor and notes there are thirteen other entities around town that feature the clock tower in their logos.
