Kern County libraries have been awarded a $75,000 grant to upgrade their technology. Assistant director Andie Apple says they applied for the California State Library grant after listening to what residents wanted, and they will use the money to purchase charging stations, furniture, and Chromebooks. They will also be setting up digital literacy classes.

The new equipment will be at the Beale Memorial, Southwest, and Ridgecrest branches by spring.
