The Bakersfield Police Department is hoping concerns about widespread corruption will fade now that two ex-narcotics detectives have been sentenced to prison.

Chief Greg Williamson told reporters Monday there is no reason to believe the scandal should go beyond Patrick Mara and Damacio Diaz. He was joined at the news conference by the US Attorney and the FBI and IRS agents investigating the case, who also say they do not expect any more prosecutions.

The Chief expressed faith that the people of Bakersfield will continue to show support for the department as they always have. Williams is retiring at the end of the year.
