A California City man who was convicted of building an improvised explosive device and other charges has been sentenced to 57 months in prison.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Angela Scott says a burglary investigation at Kenneth Kirkland’s home last year turned up unstable dynamite and an IED filled with shotgun shells. Scott says Kirkland had been upset about a previous relationship.
