Kern County’s newest assemblyman has been sworn into office.

Former Kevin McCarthy aide Vince Fong says he will be taking advice from local residents before writing any new bills. He will also be focusing on water issues and less regulations. Fong believes President-elect Donald Trump can help break the Democratic super majority in California by working on Central Valley water projects.

Democratic Assemblyman Rudy Salas also took his oath of office Monday for the third time. Salas says he will be working on upping the water supply to the Valley as well.
