PROP 64 FREES INMATE

A man serving nine months in jail for a marijuana conviction is now free.This makes the convict Kern County’s first inmate released under Proposition 64. 32-year-old Raudel Rivera was released Tuesday after a judge reduced his felony conviction to a misdemeanor, giving him time served of 153 days. Convicts must request a re-sentencing to have felonies reclassified retroactively under the new law.
