The Kern County Firefighters Union is blasting plans to reduce rural fire stations from three people to just two. The union released a statement Friday calling the cost reduction dangerous and misguided, and questioned the reductions just months after the most destructive fires in the county’s history. The staff cuts go into effect at nine rural stations Monday.
