The Bakersfield City Council has approved a $90 thousand contract to begin demolishing houses.The contract is for the 24th Street Widening Project. Robert Braley lives in the impacted neighborhood and objected to Tuesday’s special session, which had been called the minimum 24 hours before a vote on the contract. The council approved the first phase of demolition unanimously after a recent court ruling allowing it to proceed.
