WATER RESTRICTIONS STAY IN PLACE

The State Water Resources Control Board has voted to continue the emergency drought restrictions. The vote comes despite recent heavy rains and an historic snow pack. Board staff recommended keeping the mandatory conservation levels in place ahead of today’s Wednesday’s vote in Sacramento saying 60 percent of the state is still under some level of drought and groundwater tables remain depleted. Most water agencies are opposed saying it hurts credibility to say there are both drought and flood emergencies at the same time, the board will revisit the restrictions when the rainy season ends in May.
