FIRE ON BRUNDAGE LANE KILLS DOG, DISPLACES FIVE

Bakersfield firefighters say an accidental electric spark caused a house on Brundage Lane to go up in smoke and killed the dog of the family that lived there.

The fire started at the back of the home near N Street around noon on Tuesday, and Battalion Chief John Frando says some crew members had to go onto the roof to get it under control.

No one was home at the time but five people have been displaced. Damage is estimated at $70,000.
