A woman has given birth to a baby boy in the back of a car on Interstate 5 near Buttonwillow. The couple was driving to a hospital in Los Angeles Tuesday morning, and were stopped by the CHP for speeding near Buttonwillow. Officers and a Kern County fire crew aided in delivering the infant in the back of the car, mother and child were taken by Hall Ambulance to Mercy Southwest Hospital. The parents said the mother went into labor in San Jose, but they wanted to deliver at their preferred hospital in L.A. The CHP warns people to seek nearby assistance in an emergency.
