VETERAN HOMELESSNESS MAY BE OVER IN KERN COUNTY

Social workers hope to see an end to veteran homelessness in Kern County this year.

Volunteers with the Ready for Zero program have made a by-name list of each vet to help them qualify for services, and United Way director Christine Lollar thinks the seven-year-old project is better than what was done before, where the county treated substance abuse before getting folks into housing.

Ready for Zero is completely funded each year by a federal grant.
