5 SCHOOL DON’T GET PASSING GRADES

Bakersfield City Schools identifies five schools that continue to under-perform. Mark Luque is in charge of educational services and says Fremont, McKinley, Munsey and Stella Hills elementary schools, along with Emerson Middle School are being evaluated. The Focus Schools Initiative comes well ahead of any state takeover, plans could include reassigning teachers or changing leadership. If an identified school has poor marks in multiple disciplines for two consecutive school years, it can be put under County Superintendent control. After three straight years, the state can take over the school.
