Marchers delivered their message to Arvin City Hall during the Day Without Immigrants protest.

Organizers of Thursday’s demonstration say it is intended to pressure the Arvin Council into passing a sanctuary city ordinance, because they feel a non-binding resolution is not enough to ease immigrants’s fears.

Several hundred people marched in Arvin and Shafter, causing businesses to close for the day and higher rates of absenteeism at schools.
