A large Shafter apartment complex had to be evacuated for several hours this weekend after a contractor accidentally hit a natural gas line.

It took crews from Southern California Gas about four hours to repair the gash at the place on West Tulare Avenue near North Wall Street Sunday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
