The Arvin City Council has voted not to become a sanctuary city despite the pleas from many residents.Civil rights activist Dolores Huerta was among those pleading for the designation. Tuesday night’s vote was locked 2-2 on whether to direct city staff to draft an ordinance on becoming a sanctuary for illegal immigrants. Council members expressed concerns about a loss of federal funds over the vote.
