The City of Bakersfield is looking to repeal a trash rate discount for seniors.The program has given senior citizens a half-price discount for thirty years. The council will have a first reading on a new ordinance March 8th to require residents over 65 pay the same rate as everyone else. The city attorney says rates cannot be determined simply by a customer’s age.
