Not all the homes in the path of the 24th Street project may be torn down.Demolition of houses for the 24th Street Widening Project in central Bakersfield is underway, but five homes have been designated to be relocated. A public auction will be held April 4th to sell homes that the State Historic Preservation Office finds significant, but buyers must be ready to move the buildings within 60 days. Any of the five homes that does not sell in the auction would then be demolished.
