The director of a Bakersfield non-profit that lets disabled children play sports has been named the 34th Assembly District’s Woman of the Year.

Freshman lawmaker Vince Fong chose Jessica Matthews for the honor for the impact the League of Dreams has has on the kids. This marks the 30th anniversary of the legislature’s Woman of the Year.
