Police say the woman who was hit and killed on Ashe Road in south Bakersfield had been out for her morning jog and was crossing the street. Detective Ryan Vaughan says the accident happened around 9:45 Tuesday morning near the intersection of McKee Road.

The man driving the pickup truck stayed at the scene and is cooperating with police. Detectives do not believe drugs, alcohol and speed were factors in the accident.
