The man who pleaded no contest to kidnapping two one-year-old children during a carjacking in east Bakersfield has been sentenced to nine years in prison.

Police say Jesus Vences took the family vehicle with the kids inside and then pulled a knife when officers found them in a trailer near Niles and Oswell streets last October.
