A section of the path along the Kern River in southwest Bakersfield is being closed for emergency repairs. The multi-use path from Allen Road to a mile west is closed for up to three weeks starting Thursday as the Kern Water Agency shores up a berm along the river. Recent erosion and the anticipated snow melt river flow is making the repairs urgent.
