West High School in Bakersfield has earned a Civil Learning Award of Merit.The award is from the State Department of Education. The award announced Tuesday is for winning a local National History Day competition early this month, when they produced a documentary on an historic segregation court case. West High will represent Bakersfield in a state competition in May.
