Cal State Bakersfield and the Kern High School District have launched a new program to get more local kids enrolled at the college.

Students who follow the University Promise agreement and maintain a 3.0 GPA in college prep courses will be guaranteed admission. CSUB President Dr. Horace Mitchell says this plan has been in the works for years.

Mitchell says the program also helps students pick the right classes so they graduate in four years.
